Cleanup & Greenup was established in the fall of 1990 in order to provide programs to assist in the education of citizens, government agencies and businesses about the environment and related social and community issues.The initial sponsors of these programs where from the general public, business, education and government entities.
The programs of C & G are designed for all with varied interest to help them better understand the importance of our environmental issues, water conservation, alternative energy litter prevention, solid waste management as well as assisting in providing social services to the homeless, veterans and seniors with Alcohol, Drugs, HIV infection and related problems.
To date, more then 685 schools (public & private), 57 youth and community centers and 26
public housing agencies have been recipients of one or more of these programs which have
reached more than 2,980,000 youth and adults throughout Florida, New York and other
communities through participating organizations in Cleanup & Greenup nationwide.
Cleanup & Greenup, Inc. has received numerous awards and recognition
from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Florida Office of Environmental Education,
Florida Department of Forestry, Keep Florida Beautiful, American Public Works Association
(APWA), Florida Association of Counties and is an approved program of Renew America
certified in 1993.
